Pregnancy Scan

Private Growth & Well-being Scan in Solihull & Birmingham

Monitor baby's growth, well-being, and development in the third trimester. Singles and twins.

About This Scan

A growth and well-being scan monitors your baby's development in the third trimester, typically from 28 weeks onwards. We measure baby's head, abdomen, and femur to estimate weight and check growth is on track. The scan also assesses amniotic fluid levels, baby's movements, and overall well-being. This scan provides reassurance that your baby is thriving and can identify any concerns early. Available for both single and twin pregnancies.

What We Check

  • Estimated fetal weight
  • Head circumference
  • Abdominal circumference
  • Femur length
  • Amniotic fluid levels
  • Baby's position and presentation
  • Fetal movements

Who Is This Scan For?

Recommended for women in the third trimester who want reassurance about baby's growth, those with concerns about baby's movements, women with gestational diabetes or blood pressure concerns, or anyone whose midwife has recommended a growth check.

What to Expect

The scan takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Measurements are taken and plotted on a growth chart to check your baby is growing as expected. We will show you your baby on screen and explain all findings. If you would like to know baby's position or presentation, we will check this too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the weight estimate?

Ultrasound weight estimates are typically accurate to within 10-15%. They provide a useful guide to whether baby is growing appropriately for gestational age.

How often should I have a growth scan?

This depends on your individual circumstances. Some women have one scan for reassurance, while others may need regular monitoring every 2-4 weeks if there are concerns.
