Diagnostic Scan

Private MSK Ultrasound in Solihull & Birmingham

Musculoskeletal imaging for shoulders, knees, wrists, and soft tissue injuries in adults and children.

About This Scan

Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound provides detailed imaging of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. This scan is ideal for investigating sports injuries, joint pain, tendon tears, and soft tissue problems. We offer scans of the shoulder, knee, wrist, calf, and buttock — both single and bilateral. Paediatric MSK scans are also available. Our sonographer has extensive NHS experience in diagnostic MSK imaging and can assess a wide range of conditions.

What We Assess

  • Tendons and tendon tears
  • Ligament integrity
  • Joint effusions
  • Muscle tears or strains
  • Bursitis
  • Soft tissue masses

Who Should Consider This Scan?

Suitable for anyone with joint pain, sports injuries, reduced range of movement, swelling around a joint, suspected tendon tears, or soft tissue lumps near joints. Also useful for monitoring known injuries during recovery.

What to Expect

The scan takes approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the area. Warm gel is applied and the probe is moved over the joint or soft tissue area. You may be asked to move the joint through various positions to assess tendons dynamically. The scan is painless, though some movements may reproduce your symptoms.
