Private Pelvic Ultrasound in Solihull & Birmingham
Transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic imaging for gynaecological concerns.
About This Scan
A pelvic ultrasound examines the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding structures. We offer both transabdominal-only and combined transabdominal and transvaginal (TA & TV) scans for the most comprehensive assessment. This scan investigates pelvic pain, irregular periods, post-menopausal bleeding, suspected fibroids or cysts, and fertility concerns. Combined packages with abdominal and kidney scans are also available for a thorough pelvic and abdominal assessment.

Who Should Consider This Scan?
Recommended for women experiencing pelvic pain, heavy or irregular periods, post-menopausal bleeding, suspected fibroids or ovarian cysts, fertility investigations, or those needing monitoring of known gynaecological conditions.
What to Expect
The transabdominal scan is performed through the abdomen with gel and takes about 10-15 minutes. If a transvaginal scan is included, a slim probe is gently inserted for clearer views of the uterus and ovaries — this takes an additional 10 minutes and provides much more detailed images. The combined scan takes approximately 20-30 minutes in total.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a transvaginal scan?
A transvaginal scan provides much clearer images of the uterus and ovaries. It is recommended for the most thorough assessment but is not compulsory — a transabdominal-only option is available.
Can I have a pelvic scan during my period?
Yes, a pelvic scan can be performed during your period. However, for fertility scans or specific assessments, your sonographer may recommend a particular time in your cycle.
