Diagnostic Scan

Private Testicular Ultrasound in Solihull & Birmingham

Testicular and scrotal imaging for pain, lumps, swelling, and fertility concerns.

About This Scan

A testicular ultrasound provides detailed imaging of the testicles and scrotum to investigate pain, lumps, swelling, or fertility concerns. The scan assesses testicular size and symmetry, identifies masses or cysts, checks blood flow, and can detect conditions such as varicoceles, hydroceles, and epididymal cysts. Combination packages with kidney, prostate, and pelvic scans are available for comprehensive male health assessment.

What We Assess

  • Testicular size and symmetry
  • Lumps or masses
  • Epididymis
  • Blood flow (Doppler)
  • Hydrocele or varicocele
  • Scrotal wall

Who Should Consider This Scan?

Recommended for men experiencing testicular pain or discomfort, those who have found a lump, patients with scrotal swelling, men undergoing fertility investigations, or anyone with a history of undescended testes wanting screening.

What to Expect

The scan takes approximately 15-20 minutes. You will lie on the scanning bed and a towel is used for comfort and dignity. Warm gel is applied to the scrotal area and the probe is moved gently over each testicle. Doppler assessment of blood flow is included. The scan is painless.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I be worried about a testicular lump?

Most testicular lumps are benign — common causes include epididymal cysts and hydroceles. However, any new lump should be investigated with ultrasound to rule out anything more serious.

Can ultrasound help with fertility investigations?

Yes, testicular ultrasound can assess testicular volume and identify conditions like varicoceles that may affect fertility. It is often part of a male fertility workup.
